EDUC 111 Learning Styles
Lesson Plan Revision
INTRODUCTION
During Winterim 2016 I took a course titled Newer Views of Learning. This course was focused on learning styles and new views in the education realm. For our final project, we were asked to select five lesson plans and revise them to reflect a contemporary educational view or theory. The following are my five lesson plan revisions.
STANDARDS
WI Teacher Standards:
Standard 1: Teachers know the subjects they are teaching.
Standard 3: Teachers understand that children learn differently
Standard 4: Teachers know how to teach
Standard 5: Teachers know how to manage a classroom
Standard 7: Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons
Standard 8: Teachers know how to test for student progress
International Reading Association Standards
IRA Standard 2: Candidates use instructional approaches, materials, and an integrated, comprehensive, balanced curriculum to support student learning in reading and writing.
IRA Standard 3: Assessment and Evaluation - Candidates use a variety of assessment tools and practices to plan and evaluate effective reading and writing instruction
IRA Standard 5: Candidates create a literate environment that fosters reading and writing by integrating foundational knowledge, instructional practices, approaches and methods, curriculum materials, and the appropriate use of assessments.
REFLECTION
These five revised lesson plans took some time to figure out! I found out that several of my lessons were lacking an intrapersonal aspect, which can be easily added in. I feel that my strongest lesson plan was my project based learning lesson, as the kids really enjoyed creating Native American artifacts. Also, for future lessons I would like to incorporate more hands-on activities, in addition to technology.
